TROT HISTORY

The groundwork for the TROT organization was laid between 1982 and 1984.  Diana Uhlery, the founder, combined her skills as a physical therapist and horse woman and held the first class in 1984.  In a backyard setting near White Rock Lake, Diana shared her love of horses with children who had various disabilities.  Before long the positive results of the program could be seen and TROT's slogan became "When you put kids and horses together, miracles happen."

At the inception of the program there was one horse, one rider and a few volunteers.  Since then TROT has grown to serving hundreds of riders over the years.  In 1990 TROT moved to its current location at Gemini Farms, 20 miles south of downtown Dallas.  Since that time the organization has served between 20 and 60 riders per year, utilizing 8 schooling horses, three instructors and numerous volunteers.  All classes are held under the supervision of certified instructors.

TROT is affiliated with The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (N.A.R.H.A).  As a N.A.R.H.A. operating center TROT complies with industry standards to provide safe, quality programming.  In 2000, TROT completed an extensive accreditation process.  In 2001 TROT was awarded the status of "Premier Facility."  This means that the organization excelled in all areas of the accreditation process including administration, program and facility.  At this time TROT is the only accredited therapeutic riding program operating in Dallas County.

     TROT is a non-profit organization with a 501c-3 status.
